Many of our existing and prospective customers often approach us with one important question.
Should I rent or buy a mobility product?
Mediplus Mobility offers people in South Florida both options– mobility rentals and home healthcare products for sale. So how do we help to better inform our customers’ decisions?
Here are a few pointers that will help you answer that dilemma.
- Will you use your wheelchair, home hospital bed or scooter for example for the foreseeable future or for a limited period of time (e.g: recovery)? Depending on the condition that your or a loved one are living with, your doctor or therapist will likely be able to guide you as to the timing of your need for assistive devices. If you live with a chronic or degenerative disease or experience severe physical impairment, you will most likely benefit from the purchase of a mobility device. In this situation, when looking at the cost-benefit ratio, you will find that after 3-4 months of rental, the value of your device will likely be paid off. If you are undergoing recovery from surgery on the other hand, a rental will be an excellent choice for you a you can order the product and extend its rental period for as long as it takes you to get back on your feet again.
- What kind of service will you most benefit from? At Mediplus Mobility, your satisfaction is our number one priority. When you rent a device from us, you quickly learn that any product defect you might be experiencing– whether it be structural or mechanic (and as long as it is not inflicted by misuse or abuse of the device) will be dealt with by our service staff in a timely manner. Your bed motor broke down? The back of your wheelchair needs to be adjusted for firmness? Our technicians will help you with your devices at no cost. When you purchase a product from us, you can expect the same level of responsive service. However, depending on the warranty conditions of you specific mobility aid, there may be costs incurred as the result of service visits by our team.
- Are you looking for bathroom equipment? Many mobility companies will rent you pre-used bathroom equipment. At Mediplus Mobility, we understand that some individuals may find it advantageous to use an elevated toilet seat or commode for a limited amount of time before returning it to a provider. Our company however, believes that no mobility supplier can guarantee the 100% hygiene of bathroom products. That is why our leadership has decided to exclude such products from our rental program and instead, retail bathroom safety equipment at excellent prices.
PLUS- OUR ONE MONTH TRIAL PERIOD! If you are looking to buy a home hospital bed or patient lift for example, and are not sure if you will want to keep the device in the long term, we offer you the option of renting it and trying it our for one month– if within the first 30 days of your rental period, you decide that you want to keep it– we deduct your first-month rental fee from the device’s purchase price! (Some conditions apply).
We hope that the above guiding questions will be of assistance when deciding whether you are looking to purchase or rent a mobility device.
